In Search of the Spotted Fish
Report Date: May 28, 2002
ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE-Buras/Empire/Venice-
Had Trey Bryant from Alabama along with Mr. Crosby, also from Alabama, and Mr. Golatta from Mississippi. The guys wanted trout, so we headed to Buras in search of the spotted fish. The fishing has been pretty good in Buras for the most part, but with the strong rising tide comes the river water, and this seems to slow the trout down a bit. At our first couple of stops the guys only managed to put 3-4 trout in the boat, and I was starting to wonder if I had made the right decision. I hit a couple of more spots and finally found a spot that produced about 15 nice (2-2.5 lb.) trout, and that was the hot spot of the day.
We simply hit spot after spot catching a few trout here and a few trout there, and the guys were able to scrape up 70 nice trout. We even had time to go look for redfish, and that was a lot easier. I pulled up on a bank that I had located some fish on a couple of days ago and the guys started hooking reds immediately. It only took them about 30 minutes to fill their 3-man limit of 15 and that was that.
I'll be on the water through the end of June, so I'll keep you posted. All the fish were caught using Purple/Chartreuse or Avocado Deadly Dudley Terror Tail Jr's on ? ounce jig heads.
If you want to get in on some of the best fishing in the world, give me a call at home (504) 392-1700, or on my cell (504) 382-2711. July is booking up fast, and you do not want to miss any of that hot topwater or night fishing action. I Guarantee Fish and Fun!!! And remember, when fishing with Adventure South Guide Service, you will catch your own fish. I will not catch them for you. Think about it. If you come in with 100 trout, and your guide caught 70 of them, how much fun is that for you and your party? Did you pay him to put you on the fish, or to watch him catch fish?
Until Net Time, Catch Em' Up!!
