ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE-Buras/Empire/Venice---
Had two local guys, Mark and Mike, from here in Belle Chasse with me today. I have not been on the water since Saturday due to a few cancellations, so it was kind of nice to be heading down the river early this morning. As we approached our first stop this morning, the water looked good, with lots of bait, and I just had a feeling that it was going to happen. Sure enough, it was not long before the Frelich 125's started to work their magic and I was more than happy to see those big yellow mouths dance across the surface of the water. The action was not very fast, but it was just consistent enough to keep us from moving. After the action slowed, we bounced around from spot to spot picking away at the trout until we decided to head in and look for the reds at around 10:00. By this time the guys had put 40 nice speckled trout in the box and were game for some red fishing.
The water in the passes was extremely low compared to all of last weekend and the reds were out cruising the banks, the only problem was that they did not like what we had to offer them at our first few stops. We then went to a spot that typically produces a few fish for me on low tides and the reds were there. The reds showed themselves when the first fish came out of the water like a fish possessed after my clown colored Baby 1-. I spun the boat around and the guys started hooking up with nice 6-10 lb. reds immediately. In a matter of no time at all the guys boated the 10 reds they needed for their limit and even let a few go. It was nice to see the rods bend double. I would bend down to unhook one fish when all of the sudden I would hear that unmistakable sound of drag ripping for the other guy. Now that's fishing. We went and tried a few more spots just to see if anyone was home, but we did not find much to talk about. We called it a day at around 1:00 with a box full of fish and smiles all around. I wish everyday could go like that.
