Afternoon Trout Slam
Report Date: August 26, 2002
Had an afternoon trip with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Poole from right here in Belle Chasse yesterday. All I can say is that it cannot get any easier for a guide than it was yesterday. They met me at around 1:45 at the Venice Marina and we left the dock around 2:00. We headed down river and got to our first spot at around 2:40. At 2:45 they put the first fish in the boat, so I dropped the anchor. The bite was consistent, and at about 4:20 they had already put 42 of their 50 specks in the boat, when Mr. Sam said, ?Well Shane, we've had a good time and caught a mess of fish. We're ready to go in when you are!? In hearing this I just about fell out of the boat. I talked Mrs. Poole into making a few more cast and boating a few more to put 45 trout in the box, before we headed for the dock. Talk about easy. We were back in to the dock a little after 5:00 with a box full of nice fat speckled trout. Not bad for only 3 hours on the water.
I have a trip planned for this afternoon, but it all depends on the winds. I'm told that a weak front is supposed to blow through and that the winds will be switching to the North. If this happens it will probably make water in the area we fished yesterday afternoon a little choppy. At any rate, I'll keep you posted.
If you want to go fishing with a guide service that prides itself on giving it's clients an outdoor adventure of a life time, give me a call at (504) 392-1700, or on my cell (504) 382-2711. I pride myself on letting my clients catch the fish and on the fact that fishing is about more than just filling the box up as fast as you can and getting back to the dock. Fishing is about fun and you should have fun no matter if you catch 10 fish or 100 fish. After all, not even the best fishermen catch a boat load of fish every trip out, and if they say they do, they either are full of bull, or they don?t go fishing very often. We are still catching plenty of redfish in the passes on low tide, and before you know it the fronts will start blowing through and you know what that means? Big Venice Yellow Mouth Trout on the inside!!! I Guarantee Fish and Fun!!! Until Net Time, Catch Em' Up!!!
If you got a chance to see the show, Louisiana Outdoor Adventures, last night, drop me an e-mail and let me know what you think. It's always nice to get feedback.
