ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE-Buras/Empire/Venice---

Had an afternoon trip with Jim, Kevin, and Kenny Aikman yesterday. We left the dock at around 12:45 and headed south from Venice. The wind was blowing pretty good from the east, and by the time I got down the river, it had switched to more of a southeasterly direction. That wind direction kind of put a damper on my plans, so I decided to stop in the passes and try for a few reds. At our first stop, the guys boated 7 before we moved on to spot #2. At our second stop, we put 1 red in the boat, and another pulled to the hooks before I got it in the net. Spot #3 proved to be our good luck stop. We hooked and loss a trout, and then boated another, so I dropped anchor and the guys started chunking. In no time the reels were screaming from the pull of the big reds on the ends of the lines. It took only minutes for the guys to fill their 3-man limit, and release a couple of nice reds. They were also able to put a few trout in the boat as well.

After the box was full of reds, I told them that we could catch and release, or go for broke and change area codes to go in search of trout. We decided to head for the trout, so I put the boat on step and told the guys to get comfortable. I?m not afraid to run if I think it?s worth the time. As soon as we pulled up to my trout spot, the guys put 2 in the boat, so I dropped anchor. Well, wouldn't you know it; they never caught another keeper fish after I dropped the anchor. I trolled around and found them on the other side of the structure. I dropped the anchor again, and this time it was good for about 25 trout. They were not monster trout, but they were good enough to throw on ice, and some of them would have even made it on the "Wall of Fame" of one well know local captain. We ended the day with 28 trout and 15 reds all cleaned up and ready for the fire.

If you want to go fishing with a guide service that prides itself on giving it's clients an outdoor adventure of a life time, give me a call at (504) 392-1700, or on my cell (504) 382-2711. I pride myself on letting my clients catch the fish and on the fact that fishing is about more than just filling the box up as fast as you can and getting back to the dock. Fishing is about fun and you should have fun no matter if you catch 10 fish or 100 fish. After all, not even the best fishermen catch a boat load of fish every trip out, and if they say they do, they either are full of bull, or they don't go fishing very often. We are still catching plenty of redfish in the passes on low tide, and before you know it the fronts will start blowing through and you know what that means? Big Venice Yellow Mouth Trout on the inside!!! I Guarantee Fish and Fun!!! Until Net Time, Catch Em' Up!!!
