Typical September Fishing

ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE-Buras/Empire/Venice---
Today I had Doctor Carl and Doctor Steve down from Baton Rouge to do a little fishing with me. We started off at some of the close in structures in search of trout, but the pickings were slim. One trout here, one trout there, we never could get anything going consistently. The guys also caught a couple of nice reds, but that was just incidental while fishing trout. On days like this, it sometimes pays to sit on a bite, but I did not have the patience today. I had to keep moving. We did find one spot were the guys were able to catch about 10 trout, but that was the mother load of the day. Dr. Carl came down a few weeks ago and fished with Capt. Larry, and was waiting for this date to get in on some more action. Capt. Larry made the mistake of putting him on a couple of reds using top water, and I think he is hooked. I was hoping for better conditions today so that we could give it a try, but the opportunity just did not present itself. I did throw it a few times at various spots to see if it would work, but I did not get a single strike.
At around 11:30 I headed in to where I have been catching a bunch of reds, but with little or no tide today, the fish were anything but aggressive and the guys were only able to pick up a few. We headed in at around 12:30 ahead of a little rain shower, and let Mack Da' Knife do his handy work. All total we ended the day with 28 nice trout and 6 reds. The guys seemed very happy, and in my book, that is all that counts. The trout and big reds were caught using Deadly Dudley Terror Tail Jr's in Purple/Chartreuse on 5/16th ounce jig heads, and the smaller reds were caught using weedless spoons. In response to the many e-mails asking what type of fishing line I prefer, I would like to say that I highly recommend PowerPro 30 lb. test spectra. It is very strong, very sensitive, and is half the diameter of monofilament of the same test. If you take the time to get use to it, PowerPro will change the way you fish.
If you want to go fishing or fly fishing with a guide service that prides itself on giving it's clients an outdoor adventure of a life time, give me a call at (504) 392-1700, or on my cell (504) 382-2711. I pride myself on letting my clients catch the fish and on the fact that fishing is about more than just filling the box up as fast as you can and getting back to the dock. Fishing is about fun and you should have fun no matter if you catch 10 fish or 100 fish. After all, not even the best fishermen catch a boat load of fish every trip out, and if they say they do, they either are full of bull, or they don't go fishing very often. Before you know it the fronts will start blowing through and you know what that means? Big Venice Yellow Mouth Trout on the inside!!! I Guarantee Fish and Fun!!! Until Net Time, Catch Em' Up!!!
