Big Bulls and Speckled Trout Too

I've had so many e-mails wondering what happened to my reports, that I felt I better get back to work. My computer was down with a virus for some time, and I just got behind, and got lazy. I guess that's what fishing so much will do to you. At any rate, today Capt. Larry and myself finished up a 3 day trip with the Wintech / Stalnacker Sales group. On day 1 the boats spread out in all directions and came back to the dock with nice catches of speckled trout and redfish.

Yesterday the guys decided that they wanted big reds, Capt. Larry, Capt. Monty, and myself each loaded our crew aboard and headed for SW Pass. Capt. Monty stole the show with a boat full of redfish, black drum, and flounder. Capt. Larry also had a full box of fish and my guys got their wish as well, catching several reds in the 30 lb. class. There is nothing like hearing that drag scream when one of those big bulls takes off with your lure.

Today the guys wanted trout, so we headed down river in search of some of the big trout that have been showing up the last few days. With the change in wind direction and a good tidal range, I thought for sure that we would have a bang em' up kind of day, but boy was I wrong. We did end up catching 45 trout on my boat and about the same on Capt. Larry's boat, but it was the one here, one there kind of fishing that will drive you crazy. The only thing that made it a little better was that the trout were the size we expect to see in Venice this time of the year! As usual, Deadly Dudley Terror Tail Jr's in Black/Chartreuse, Pruple/Chartreuse did the trick.

I'll be out on the water again tomorrow, weather permitting, and I'll keep you posted.
