ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE-Buras/Empire/Venice---

Today Capt. Ross and I finished up the second day of a two-day trip with Mr. B.J. Smart and his group from Ada, Oklahoma. Capt. Brandon took his crew down the river and found the trout stacked up in one of the spots that typically produce this time of the year. Capt. Ross headed up toward Buras, and found tough fishing conditions, as did the rest of the guys fishing up that way. His crew ended up with a handful of trout and 10 nice reds. With those reports yesterday, it did not take Ross, or myself very long to decide which way we were going to head this morning. Armed with 2 boatloads of eager anglers, and all the Deadly Dudley Terror Tails my boat could hold, we pulled up to the fishing location with high expectations. Capt. Brandon was already there, and looked to be on them pretty good, so I was excited about our chances. Sure enough, as we trolled into position, on of my guys hooked up and then another, so I stuck the anchor and watched as the fun began. In no time the guys were bringing trout to the net, and theses were not those Petesie trout that have been filing up the ice chest in Buras. These were nice fat specks like your mama use to make (Ha, Ha).

With the box 3/4 of the way full of trout, the guys decided that they wanted to go look for some reds. I told them that I knew where we might be able to catch a few big bulls, so off we went. Our first couple of stops did not produce a fish, but when we finally found them, it was on. The guys were hooking up cast after cast, after cast. At one point, B.J. hooked up with fish on 17 consecutive casts. The only problem we had is that most of the fish were over the 27" mark, so we had to throw them back, but my guys had no problem with that and just kept on casting. The bite lasted for about 1 ? before it slowed down and we decided to call it a day. The box was full and everyone had a smile on his face. Capt. Ross did equally as well, as he managed to put his guys on some real "Hog Trout" in one of his secret holes.

It was nice fishing with you guys, and I look forward to seeing you again next year. Thanks to Capt. Ross and Capt. Brandon for a job well done. The fish were caught on Deadly Dudley Terror Tail Jr's on 3/4 ounce jig heads.

I'll be out on the water again tomorrow and I'll keep you posted.
