ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE-Buras/Empire/Venice---

2 Day Report

Yesterday I had Don Brou and his gang from Pro-Inspect. I had 4 guys with me, and Capt. Don Gros jumped on board with Mr. Brou, who happens to be his boss, and acted as his guide for the day. I decided that we would head back down to where I put my clients on fish Friday, but when we got there it looked like a Wal-Mart parking lot. I knew better than to go to a "community hole" on a Saturday, but the fish were so nice on Friday, that I just had to give it a go. It was a bad decision. It never ceases to amaze me how much some people really do not know about fishing. They come pulling up to a spot, on a squat, with their outboard, and then proceed to throw out there anchor like they are throwing for distance, and they then wonder why they don?t catch any fish. Oh, I wonder why? At any rate, we did not stay at our first stop very long. We made a little run and started to pick a few fish up at another spot, but it was slow and I was sure that it was just going to be one of those days. We just bounced around all day, catching a few here, few there, before we called it a day at around 1:30. My boat ended the day with 50 trout, and the other about the same.

Today my crew, Mr. Bill Fraley, his son Bob, and Bob's brother in law John, were right on time, and we got an early start. It was already blowing a little, and I knew that the wind would definitely pick up as the morning wore on. As we headed down river, I noticed that the water was a bit higher this morning and falling hard, so I headed right to where we did our best yesterday. I got the guys rigged up and in no time they were putting nice fat speckled trout in the boat. As a matter of fact, out of the first 20 fish we put in the boat, I don?t think that any of them were less than 3 lb., with the nicest fish tipping the scales at 7 lb. Not a bad trout for this time of the year. After my crew had there fill of trout, we were off in search of reds.

I headed to a spot the was nice and protected from the SSW winds, and the guys proceeded to start hooking up with nice line stripping reds. It did not take long to put the limit of 15 in the boat, and to release a few monsters. With the boxes full of trout and reds, we called it a day at around 12:00 and I even got home in time to watch the Saints pull out another victory.

Both the trout, and the reds were caught on Deadly Dudley Terror Tail Jr's on 3/4 ounce jig heads 2 ft. under a cork.

My clients and I decided to reschedule today because of the weather, but I'll be back on the water again before you know it.
