Hero to Goat!

ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE -Buras/Empire/Venice---
What a difference a day makes. I went from hero yesterday to goat today. The weather called for SE winds switching to S and blowing 12-20 knots. Well, they got it right today. Before I even left the dock, the wind was picking up, and the stiff breeze that hit me in the face when I passed through the Empire floodgates this morning let me know that today would be different. I started off by heading to our first stop of yesterday morning, but the wind had already turned that into slop and I ran on by in search of cleaner water. I should have known that it would be hard to find, but there is just something inside of me that won't let me stop until I've really seen for myself that every thing is dirty behind Buras when the wind blows like that.
To make a long story short, my guys from New Mexico worked hard to put 10 trout and 10 reds in the boat. Take this advice from me. When fishing in windy conditions, I do not care where you are, it is much better to pick an area that you know the fish inhabit that time of the year, and t stay there and beat them out. Don?t go looking for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Get on a spot and fish it. If you catch a few fish, cast and cast, and cast again until you are sure that there are no other fish on that point, reef, etc., then pick up your anchor and move to another spot in the area. All the fish today were caught using Purple/Chartreuse or Black/Chartreuse Deadly Dudley Terror Tails on ? ounce jig heads.
