Another Day in Paradise

Report Date: April 29, 2003

Day two with the Wintech Group from MO. Today I had Mr. Dan and Mr. Steve on board with me. All 3 boats left the marina together this morning and headed toward the Jump. When we got to the river, the fog was so tick that you could cut it with a knife. We backed off on the throttle, and switched to CH. 67 in order to monitor the traffic in the river. I heard one of the crew boats say that it was clear a mile or so south, so we continued with caution along the west side of the river until we could see the other side. We then made a run for it as the fog lifted. It was very nice with no fog the rest of the way, so we just sat back and enjoyed the ride the rest of the way. I decided on the ride down that I would do the same thing that I did yesterday. You know the saying, ?if it ain?t broke, don?t fix it!? Well, we had a good day yesterday so I figured that I would make the same ?milk run? today. I was mistaken. The water was a little dirtier then yesterday and there was a noticed absence of baitfish in the area. We gave our first stop a try anyway and only caught 2 trout. On to the second and third spots we went without much luck. I then started to do a little looking and found some fish along a bank that was a little protected from the wind. We made a couple of drifts and the guys were able to put about 18 nice trout in the boat, and Steve was able to catch and release a solid 5 lb. female.

the 18 trout the guys caught at that spot was thee most we caught in any one spot all day. After that, it was hunt and peck, one here, one there. We did manage to get into some good fish at around 1:00, but just after we had released another 5 lb. trout Mr. Jack Fish interrupted us. Mr. Dan was the lucky angler on the other end of the rod and he continued to be lucky, having to fight that fish for almost an hour. I?m just glad it was he and not I! At any rate, we finally boated the big jack after a long battle and then headed to the house. The total on my boat for today was 39 trout, the total for Ross was 15 reds kept, many more released along with 12 trout, and Capt. Larry had a tough day with 15 trout and 2 reds. Not to worry Larry, I had one of those days on Sunday. All the fish today were caught using Purple/Chartreuse or Blue Moon/Chartreuse Deadly Dudley Terror Tails on ? ounce jig heads under corks.

If you want to go fishing or fly fishing with a guide service that prides itself on giving it's clients an outdoor adventure of a life time, then give me a call at (504) 392-1700, or on my cell (504) 382-2711.I Guarantee Fish and Fun, and I promise you that you will catch your own fish. I?ll find them for you, and maybe figure out the technique needed to catch them, but after that the fish are all yours. I am not out there to show you how good I can catch fish. I fish every day. I gauge the success of my trip not on how many fish are in the ice chest at the end of the day, but on whether or not the clients had a good time while they utilized my service! Who wants to pay to watch the guide catch fish?Until Net Time, Catch Em' Up!!!
