Oklahoma Shopping List

ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE-Buras/Empire/Venice---

Had Jim Wilson and crew from Oklahoma fishing with Capt. Bobby, Capt. Larry, and myself today. These guys come down from Oklahoma twice a year to do inshore/offshore combo trips, and when they fish with us inshore, it is redfish that is on the shopping list. As you can tell from my reports the last week or so, the redfish have practically been jumping in the boat, so I was very happy to have them booked for today. We went south from Venice into what looked like to be a sure wet A?? first thing this morning, but luck was on our side and as the sun rose there was little if any threatening weather in the direction we were headed.

I stopped at the same location were my crew slammed the reds yesterday, but the tide was doing little, if anything, and I figured that we might have to sit on them to make them bite. Sure enough, the guys picked a few fish up early, but it was slow going. At about 10:00 the tide started to fall the fish started to show. The guys filled their 3 man limits with beautiful 20"-27" redfish in no time, and caught and released the rest of the day. That's been the nice thing about the reds my clients have been catching. Not only are they there in numbers, but I do not think that I've thrown 1 undersized redfish back in all the trips I've made lately.

At any rate, the red fishing again today was nothing short of awesome, as all 3 boats caught limits and released fish up until we headed in ahead of the rain at around 1:00. It was hard for the guys to leave, because the top water bite was on and the fishing was getting CRAZY!!! Oh well, guys hopefully they'll be there again in the morning. Capt. Larry and I will be taking some of the same guys out tomorrow, while the rest of the gang heads offshore.

For the third day in a row it did not matter what we used, Deadly Dudley Terror Tails, Spot Removers, they all worked, but the boys really seemed to like catching them on gold spoons. And remember, when fishing with Adventure South Guide Service, you will catch your own fish. I will not catch them for you. Think about it. If you come in with 100 trout, and your guide caught 70 of them, how much fun is that for you and your party? Did you pay him to put you on the fish, or to watch him catch fish?
