ADVENTURE SOUTH GUIDE SERVICE-Buras/Empire/Venice---

Tuesday I had Mike, Bates, and Terry with me, looking for a little speckled trout action. I told the guys that the trout had been hit and miss, but that we would give it our best shot. I headed west from Venice and away from the thousands of reds that have been cruising the canes down river. That was a tough move, but something in my head told me to "Go west young man!" Boy was I glad that I did! As we approached our intended fishing location, the birds were diving like crazy and the shrimp were getting knocked out of the water everywhere you looked by hungry speckled trout. I hardly had my trolling motor in the water before the guys started hooking up. By 8:15 the guys had their 75 trout in the boat and we were off to look for reds. The reds proved to be a little tougher as the tide had stopped rising and the fish seemed to be uncooperative, but as the tide began to fall I could see the little crabs floating by and I knew it was about to be on! Sure enough, the reds were stacked at the first falling tide red spot I tried, and the guys caught their limit of 15 in less than 1 hour, with a few busted lines mixed in. Thanks guys. I told you that the trout were hit or miss, and you guys hit them today. On another note, I did break my rule of the guide not catching a bunch of fish this day, but the way the fish were busting around the boat it did not matter. In fact, the guys said that they wanted me to fish and have fun with them. Thanks again guys.

Yesterday I had John from Alabama and Terry from Georgia. They were in town for a conference and had a day before Terry had to fly back to Georgia, so they decided to spend it fishing. I loaded up the bait well the Frelich 150?s at the request of John, and headed down the river. I was real slow all day for us, and the guys were good sports, catching 1 here, 1 there to make up a nice mess of 30 trout and a limit of 10 reds. The Frelich 150?s definitely helped out our efforts, and I recommend that you get some on your way down to Empire/Buras/Venice. They work just wonderful suspended about 2' under your favorite bobber.

Today I had Brian and Tim from Baton Rouge and Capt. Bobby helped me out by taking Brian's father, brother in law, and his father. I decided to go SW this morning from Venice and to do a little looking. I told the guys that it would probably be slow early, so we would look for good water and go from there. At our first stop we picked up 1 trout and had a big red get off, but that was about it. At our second stop, the guys hooked a couple of trout, so I stuck the anchor and let them beat the water. The bite was not fast, but the trout that the guys caught were very nice, and there were some redfish in the area as well. We sat on this spot forever, milking what we could out of it, and ended up with 27 nice trout. On the way in I stopped a another spot and the guys filled their limit of reds and caught several which they threw back.

As usual we used, Deadly Dudley Terror Tails, fishing them 2' under a cork.
